Lukashenko signed a decree on a large-scale project in space jointly with Russia

Belarus (bbabo.net), - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on “On the Belarusian space system for remote sensing of the Earth.” The press service of the Belworth leader reported this on April 15.

The document provides for the implementation in 2024-2028 of a joint Belarusian-Russian project to develop the Belarusian space system for remote sensing of the Earth. It is noted that the decree determined the project participants from Belarus and the conditions for their activities. It is reported that after the completion of the project, the launch of a Belarusian-Russian ultra-high-resolution Earth remote sensing spacecraft is planned. It is planned that the period of active existence of the spacecraft in orbit will be at least 7 years.

In addition, the decree emphasizes that the use of the spacecraft will significantly increase the efficiency of solving problems to ensure national security. The efficiency and quality of space information provided to consumers will also be improved.

“This spacecraft will become a driver for the development of high-tech industries and technologies in the space industry and attracting talented young scientists to it. The implementation of the decree signed by the president will help consolidate the positive image of Belarus as a space power and a high-tech state,” the report notes.

Let us remember that Belarus and Russia have been actively cooperating in space exploration since the late 1990s. Earlier, Lukashenko reported that Minsk and Moscow are ready to implement another large-scale space project in a few years: “... in the coming years we will launch the most advanced satellite in the world - together with the Russians we are making it.” It is planned that the satellite will have greater resolution, which will allow one to see a matchbox on Earth.
