Erdogan may meet with the head of Hamas in Istanbul today

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to meet with the head of the Hamas Politburo Ismail Haniyeh for negotiations.

It is known that the meeting will take place in Istanbul, it could happen today, Saturday, April 20. The Presidential Secretariat did not officially name the exact date, but Turkish media previously wrote that the rendezvous could take place at the end of this week.

“This weekend I will receive the leader of the movement for the Palestinian cause. We will discuss a number of issues,” Erdogan promised, speaking earlier in the Turkish parliament.

Let us recall that the Turkish president is considered one of the harshest critics of Israel from the very beginning of the war, which began after the Hamas attack on Israel. The Turkish president calls Hamas a “resistance group.” True, Ankara has not yet taken any specific significant steps against Israel.

As for Haniyeh, he has a personal score with the Israelis. Last week, three sons and several grandchildren of a Hamas leader were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip.

The Turkish government then expressed condolences to Ismail Haniu regarding the death of his relatives.

As bbabo.net reported, last night Israeli aircraft carried out further strikes on the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip. The air attack was carried out on the cities of Deir el-Balah and Rafah.
