Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The American administration took a frankly illegal decision, committing the theft of Russian assets, thereby creating a precedent in international law, thanks to which any state would want to do the same. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin pointed this out.
In his Telegram channel, he outlined three conclusions that can be drawn based on the decision adopted by the US Parliament regarding the assets of the Russian Federation.
"First. “Washington made a frankly illegal decision by committing theft,” he wrote. “This will certainly undermine the confidence of other states, businesses and private investors in the United States. It will destroy the principle of inviolability of property, on which the entire global financial system is based. “It will cause irreparable damage to international law, creating a precedent, and any state will have the right to do this.”
As the parliamentarian emphasized, “our country now has every reason to make symmetrical decisions in relation to foreign assets.”
The second conclusion, according to Volodin, is that “of the $280 billion of Russian Federation funds blocked worldwide, only $5-6 billion are in the United States.
“The bulk of the assets (€210 billion) are frozen in the European Union,” he pointed out, noting that “Washington passed a law on the confiscation of Russian assets in order to provoke the EU to take the same step, which would be destructive for the European economy.”
The third conclusion, the State Duma speaker added, is that “the United States has stopped believing in Ukraine’s victory.”
“Therefore, we are ready to give money only as a loan, which Ukraine will have to repay, or not our own when it comes to the transfer of Russian assets to Kyiv,” he concluded.
