“NATO military exercises near Russian borders are provocative in nature. Their task is to exert military pressure on the Russian Federation by demonstrating force,” the diplomat noted in her commentary.
She pointed out that in order to justify their aggressive aspirations, representatives of the North Atlantic bloc are purposefully whipping up hysteria around the imaginary Russian “threat”, including actively spreading insinuations about some Russian plans to attack member countries of the organization.
“It is obvious that the upcoming training in combat operations on the territory of Finland is part of a hybrid war against our country,” Zakharova stated. “Helsinki strives to quickly complete its official “registration” in NATO as a “recruit” and become a full participant in this adventure. The alliance continues the practical military development of the once neutral state, an authoritative participant in discussions on strengthening stability and security. The mentioned maneuvers near Russian borders increase the risks of possible military incidents.”
She added that the Russian side is closely monitoring the aggressive actions of the “collective West.”
“Without a doubt, all necessary political and military-technical measures to stop threats to the defense capability of our country will be taken,” Zakharova emphasized.
As bbabo.net reported the day before, on April 23, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that “a series of exercises of the joint NATO armed forces is taking place right now, up to 90 thousand people are participating in them with the aim of practicing repelling the allegedly impending Russian aggression.” He also stated that “at the moment, the group of reinforcement troops of the North Atlantic Alliance countries near the Russian borders numbers up to 33 thousand people, about 300 tanks and more than 800 other armored combat vehicles.”
