Oleksiy Arestovich, advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, speaker of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group, said that Kiev was ready to begin an exchange of prisoners with the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR). He made a corresponding statement on the “Dom” TV channel.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities are ready to hand over almost 60 people.

“I’m not even saying that the Normandy and Minsk agreements provide for an“ all for all ”exchange formula and no portioned exchanges. We regularly offer to exchange in any way, ”Arestovich said.

He noted that Kiev is ready to exchange “any day”.

The politician also pointed out that the list of prisoners whom the Ukrainian side wants to exchange includes, among other things, people with serious illnesses and pregnant women.

He added that the authorities of the DPR and LPR do not agree to the "gesture of humanity" in Kiev, "tying everything to political exchanges."

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba said that there are two scenarios for the development of events in the situation on the border with Russia - diplomatic and military. In his opinion, one is a "game for the maximum raising of the stakes" in diplomatic terms, and the other is the preparation of the ground for a local armed operation.
