Ukraine may serve as the third party in the case of Savchenko

European Court of Human Rights appealed to Ukraine with a proposal to become a third party in the case of illegal detention of Ukrainian pilot and MP, Nadiia Savchenko, in the territory of the Russian Federation. This was stated by a governmental commissioner for the ECHR, Boris Babin, says UNIAN.

He stressed that if a person submits an application on their own to the ECHR, it does not interfere with Ukraine to join the proceedings as a third party. "For example, today in the case of Savchenko, illegally stolen by the Russian Federation, her lawyers applied individually to the European Court of Human Rights, but now to the Court gave Ukraine a proposal to intervene in the case as a third party. It always does when we are talking about citizens and residents of Ukraine. We accepted the proposal, and further in this case we will really work as a third party until the victory,"- said Babin.

Governmental Commissioner added that this clear position of Ukraine in all matters relating to the Russian aggression and violations of human rights against Ukrainian citizens.
