The State Duma said the West could use the protests in Kazakhstan

Dmitry Novikov, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma's international affairs committee, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the accumulated socio-economic problems that led to protests in Kazakhstan could be exploited in the West.

“The population of Kazakhstan could not but respond to the attack on the socio-economic opportunities of citizens,” the parliamentarian believes. He recalled similar processes in Kyrgyzstan, where power was changing as a result of protests. At the same time, Nivikov noted that this would not necessarily lead to the same results.

He recalled the movement of "yellow vests" in France. These protests in Europe did not subside for a long time, but did not lead to a change of government. At the same time, according to the deputy, the socio-economic situation in Kazakhstan is worse. He recalled that the right-wing forces in Ukraine took advantage of a similar situation in 2014 to come to power.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, introduced an emergency regime in two regions of the country - in Almaty and the Mangistau region.

According to the decree, the emergency regime comes into force on January 5 from 01:30 am for a period until 00:00 hours on January 19, 2022. Tokayev said he hopes for the prudence of citizens.

Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan assured that the power in the country would not fall. According to him, calls to attack the offices of military and civilian departments are absolutely illegal.
