Tokayev appealed to the CSTO for help in overcoming the terrorist threat

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, said that he appealed to the CSTO partners with a request to help overcome the terrorist threat. He made the corresponding statement during the meeting, which was broadcast by the Khabar-24 TV channel.

“Today I turned to the heads of the CSTO states [with a request] to help Kazakhstan in overcoming this terrorist threat. In fact, this is no longer a threat, but an undermining of the integrity of the state and, most importantly, an attack on our citizens urgently to help them, "- said the President.

He noted that the appeal to the CSTO partners is absolutely appropriate and timely.

Recall that riots continue in Kazakhstan, which began after the protests of residents of the cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau in the Mangistau region against high fuel prices. After the demonstrations spread to other cities in the country and escalated into clashes with law enforcement officers, Tokayev introduced a state of emergency throughout the country. It is known about at least eight victims of the riots among the security forces.
