Russia - Nordic walking will help restore health after COVID-19

Russia (bbabo.net), - Lecturer at the North Caucasus Federal University Lyudmila Aliyeva and her husband Samed have created a health restoration club with the help of Scandinavian walking. It may be interesting to study the promising experience of the Kuban in other regions.

Walking with sticks helps rehabilitation after strokes, heart attacks, and is also useful for those who have had coronavirus. The training programs for the spouses were helped by professional doctors.

Lyudmila Aliyeva says that Scandinavian, or Nordic, walking is a unique sport that has almost no restrictions: anyone who can walk can practice. Due to the fact that the sticks distribute the load on the body, walking with them is easier and more useful. Nevertheless, training must be coordinated with the attending physician.

“The initiator of the project is my husband, who has been doing Scandinavian walking for ten years. He suffered a heart attack and four strokes, had impaired speech and motor functions. With the help of training, he could recover himself,” said Lyudmila Aliyeva. “Now he is an example for others,” says about his experience, teaches how to walk correctly, carry out restorative physical education and breathing exercises. " Classes are held on the "do no harm" principle. Before the beginning, the participants are interviewed, blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation are measured.

According to Aliyeva, in Stavropol, almost five thousand people suffer a stroke every year. Of these, only 15 percent recover completely. Most need special rehabilitation, but only a fifth of patients can go through it in medical institutions. The rest have to take responsibility for healing themselves. And Nordic walking can be a great help.

The Aliyevs want to further popularize their favorite sport in Stavropol. For this, they established the regional Nordic walking federation, and also received a presidential grant.

Anyone can take part in the club's classes. You don't need to have your own sticks to get started. The main thing is to warn the organizers to take an extra pair.
