The first plane with the Russian CSTO contingent arrived in Alma-Ata, TASS reports.

According to media reports, the grouping of Russian peacekeeping units was made up of special forces units of the airborne troops, in particular, units from the 76th Airborne Division and the 45th Special Forces Brigade of the Airborne Forces.

Earlier, a video appeared with the sending of the Russian part of the peacekeeping contingent to Kazakhstan.

Military aircraft are transferring the Russian part of the peacekeeping contingent to Kazakhstan.

In Kazakhstan, protests began on January 2 in the city of Zhanaozen, Mangistau Oblast, due to an increase in the price per liter of liquefied gas to 120 tenge (about 21 rubles). Previously, the price for a liter of gas was 60 tenge. Two days later, clashes between protesters and the police and the military began in Almaty and a number of other cities.

In addition, an emergency regime was introduced throughout Kazakhstan.
