Belarusian peacekeepers arrived in Kazakhstan

The Belarusian peacekeeping forces within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) arrived in Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reports.

“The unit was delivered on five Il-76 planes. It includes a company of Vitebsk paratroopers. On the spot, they will assist in resolving the situation, ”the message says.

The first unit of Russian peacekeepers has already arrived in the country.

CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said that about 2.5 thousand peacekeepers will be stationed in Kazakhstan, and if necessary, this number can be increased. Moreover, they have the right to use weapons in the event of an attack.

The White House expressed doubt that the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, of the CSTO forces was legitimate.

The Russian Foreign Ministry replied to this that the White House representative Jen Psaki does not understand all the features of the current processes in Kazakhstan.
