The press service of Nazarbayev said that he himself handed over the post of chairman of the Security Council to Tokayev

The former president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, independently decided to transfer the post of chairman of the Security Council to the current head of state, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. At the same time, Nazarbayev is in the capital of the republic, Nur-Sultan, and provides support to Tokayev, being with him "on the same side of the barricades." This was stated by the press secretary of Nazarbayev Aidos Ukibay, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, Nazarbayev decided to transfer the post of chairman of the Security Council to the current president of Kazakhstan, because "he was well aware that riots and terror demanded a prompt, tough and uncompromising response from the country's leadership."

"A large number of false rumors and provocative records about the first president are spread in the media and social networks. In the current conditions, we regard this kind of activity as an attempt to destabilize the political situation and undermine the constitutional foundations of the state," said a Nazarbayev representative.
