Zakharova advised the United States to start from itself the fight against corruption in the world

The United States should begin the global fight against corruption from its country after its recent history of $ 100 billion in government funds stolen. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wrote about this in her Telegram channel.

She recalled that recently the coordinator of the US Secret Service Roy Dotson said that the budget money allocated to fight unemployment caused by the pandemic had been stolen. At the same time, the United States has developed a whole bill "On the fight against corruption on a global scale." The country has declared the fight against corruption as one of its foreign policy priorities.

“You can also remember Afghanistan turned into a corruption hole for the United States, where billions were stolen, allocated for the reconstruction of the country. Or the corruption scandal with the purchase of medical equipment that thundered in October this year. But, of course, the 100 billion stolen from the budget intended for the unemployed is strong. Washington will be able to rise to new heights only by stealing money allocated to fight global corruption. If the democratic administration is so willing to fight corruption on a global scale, then let it start with itself, ”Zakharova wrote.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden, in support of strengthening democracy around the world, announced the launch of the President's Initiative for Democratic Renewal, a collection of policy and foreign aid initiatives “that build on the significant ongoing work of the US government to promote democracy and protect human rights throughout the world. the world ". Such a project provides for the allocation of $ 424.4 million for the protection, maintenance and growth of democratic systems, governments and non-governmental organizations around the world. This idea must be approved by Congress. The funds should go to five areas: support for free and independent media, fight against corruption, support for reformers, promotion of technologies necessary for the development of democracy, protection of free and fair elections and political processes.

Prior to this, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov at a meeting of the Interim Commission of the Federation Council on protecting state sovereignty and preventing interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation said that the United States is not abandoning its attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia, spending large sums on it. To do this, they use sanctions, blackmail and information warfare, including acting through non-profit international organizations, he explained.
