A Russian delegation arrives in Geneva for talks with the United States on security guarantees

A Russian delegation has arrived in Geneva to participate in negotiations with the United States on security guarantees, TASS reports.

The interdepartmental delegation includes representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense. The Russian diplomatic service is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. American diplomacy is represented by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

Consultations on Moscow's proposals on security guarantees will take place in Geneva on January 9 and 10. Then a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council is scheduled in Brussels, and consultations are planned in Vienna at the platform of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft security guarantees from the United States and NATO. In the document, the parties undertake to eliminate all existing infrastructure for deploying nuclear weapons outside their territory, to exercise restraint in military planning and during exercises to reduce the risks of possible dangerous situations, and also not to take actions that affect the security of each other.
