The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, again threatened the Russian Federation with "huge consequences" in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine. He wrote about this in his blog.
“Any aggression against Ukraine will have huge consequences and great costs for Russia,” Borrell said.
He added that apart from Ukraine, the entire European security architecture is at stake.
Earlier Borrell arrived in Ukraine, he will visit Stanytsia Luganskaya and Kiev.
Consultations on Moscow's proposals on security guarantees will take place in Geneva on January 9 and 10. Then a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council is scheduled in Brussels, and consultations are planned in Vienna at the platform of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft security guarantees from the United States and NATO. In the document, the parties undertake to eliminate all existing infrastructure for deploying nuclear weapons outside their territory, to exercise restraint in military planning and during exercises to reduce the risks of possible dangerous situations, and also not to take actions that affect the security of each other.
