In 96 centers of public services in Moscow began to issue a passport without prior appointment

Deputy Mayor of Moscow Anastasia Rakova reports that it is possible to obtain a biometric passport for a period of 10 years at the MFC using crypto-cabins and without an appointment. It is possible to issue a document in 96 city centers of public services, regardless of the place of registration and residence.

The mayor's office notes that the updated passport includes biometric information: a photo of a citizen and his fingerprints.

Previously, to draw up a document, it was required to contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs, having previously made an appointment. Rakova says that in 2020, several MFCs were equipped with crypto booths, which are software and hardware complexes in the form of a photo booth equipped with cameras, document and fingerprint scanners, barcode readers and shadowless lighting systems. Through them, citizens can provide their data to the department.

The finished document at the reception is issued by the employees of "My Documents". The Deputy Mayor notes that this option will be available in 70% of public service centers in Moscow. She emphasizes that the execution of the document is possible at a convenient time for the applicant, including weekends and after work.

A press release from the mayor's office noted that no prior registration is required to obtain a biometric passport, but it can be done through the mos.ru website. The term of the standard document production procedure is one month, and in some cases it can be extended up to three.

Persons over 14 years old when applying for a passport must pay a state duty in the amount of 5 thousand rubles, and for citizens under 14 years old it is 2.5 thousand rubles.

At the end of last year, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the issuance of electronic passports from 2023 for all citizens of the country. In October, Maksut Shadayev, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, announced that electronic documents will appear in three regions of the Russian Federation in 2022, including Moscow, the Moscow region and the Republic of Tatarstan.

At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that after the issuance of an electronic passport, the agency would cancel the paper equivalent of the document. This week, the Superjob service conducted a survey that showed that only 15% of respondents intend to switch to e-passports in the near future. 38% of respondents were in favor of using paper documents on a par with electronic ones, and 37% were against the updated passport format altogether.

At the end of December, the Interfax agency reported more than 42,000 complaints to Roskomnadzor about violations in the field of confidential data. Most of the applicants report the transfer of personal information to credit organizations and their placement on the Internet without the consent of the owners.
