Virologist Netesov explained why the Japanese anti-pandemic strategy is the most effective

The Japanese strategy to combat coronavirus is the most effective. Thanks to her, the Japanese now have a small number of infections, as well as a very low mortality rate. Sergey Netesov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Virology at Novosibirsk State University, told Gazeta.Ru about this.

“The Japanese strategy is much more justified than, for example, the Swedish one,” he said. - In the absence of a strict lockdown that hurts the economy, it helps keep the coronavirus "in check." But you need to understand that the Japanese are, in principle, a disciplined nation. They wear masks without any pandemics: as soon as the SARS season has come, the Japanese understand that in this way they need to protect themselves from the disease.”

The Japanese strategy is based on the rule of "three Cs", Netesov explained - closed spaces, crowded places and close-contact settings, that is, it involves avoiding closed spaces, crowded places and close contacts. The Japanese government shared this advice with the public in early March 2020, and it has been implemented everywhere. Calls to adhere to the rule were made in the news and on various shows, published on social networks and on posters.

If everyone adheres to this approach, this will significantly limit the spread of infection, Netesov is sure. People should stay at home if possible, keep quiet in crowded vehicles, and, when dining out, try to stay away from each other.
