Sintech CFEBM2-N adapter allows you to turn your SSD into a CFexpress Type B memory card

Sintech offers photographers and videographers a way to get around the high cost of CFexpress Type B cards. It comes in the form of an adapter that converts an M.2 2230 NVMe SSD into a specified format memory card.

CFexpress Type B cards are used in many cameras including Nikon Z9, Canon EOS R5 and Panasonic S1. They are quite expensive. For example, a 128GB SanDisk Extreme PRO CFexpress Type B card costs $250, while a 512GB ProGrade CFexpress Type B card costs $500.

Meanwhile, these cards are small SSDs with PCIe 3.0 x2 interface and support for NVMe 1.2, dressed in a special case. Of course, the higher price is largely due to thorough compatibility and reliability testing. But if the user is willing to take the risk, they can get, for example, a 512GB CFexpress Type B card for just $155. The adapter itself accounts for $44 of this amount.

The instructions for installing the SSD in the case are simple. It is recommended that you remove the label, place the drive in a case, apply thermal paste to improve heat dissipation, and close the case.

Sintech has tested the adapter with various NVMe 1.2 compliant M.2 2230 PCIe 3.0 SSDs from manufacturers such as Koioxia, Samsung, Western Digital, and Toshiba. She states that the adapter works with Canon EOS R5, C300 Mark III, C500 Mark III, Nikon Z6, Z7, D5, D500, D6, D850 cameras and Panasonic S1 and S1R cameras.
