Orders for Gelendvagen stopped accepting due to long-term queues

Mercedes-Benz has suspended orders for its G-Class SUVs as Magna Steyr's plant in Graz, Austria can't keep up with demand. Today, when placing a pre-order for Gelendvagen, you have to wait until the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to Motor.ru, there are a number of reasons: a global shortage of semiconductors, problems with the logistics of components, and limited production capacity at an assembly plant. At the same time, the iconic car is breaking sales records: 41,174 such SUVs were sold worldwide last year. This is the best result since the launch of the original W460 in 1979.

Recall that Mercedes-Benz has already launched an all-electric version of the Gelandewagen, which will be released in 2024. In addition, a restyling of the current generation of the car is being prepared, which will receive a new bumper, other air vents, a modified hood, and so on.

As we have already reported, in China, those who wish can purchase a locally produced electric Gelendvagen with a 4 kW engine.

In other news: Mercedes-Benz is recalling more than 1,000 S-Class vehicles in Russia due to a faulty airbag.
