WebMoney application for owners of WMP and WMR wallets

On February 11, 2022, the WebMoney service announced that all operations with P and R-wallets (for the equivalent of the Russian ruble WMR) became unavailable due to the revocation of the license from JSC Bank KKB.

WebMoney explained that users' money will not be lost. The service promised that electronic funds of WebMoney participants frozen in JSC Bank KKB will be paid out to their owners after some time.

WebMoney said it will inform customers about the refund process as the situation becomes clearer at a later date.

WebMoney said that the ruble wallets of millions of service users have become inaccessible. WMP-WMZ conversion is also disabled.

WebMoney summed up that "it will make all available legal and financial efforts to compensate for the cost of blocked instruments as soon as possible."

On the morning of February 11, the Central Bank revoked the license for banking operations from the Conservative Commercial Bank (KKB), according to the website of the regulator. KKB acted as the settlement bank of the WebMoney money transfer system.

At the beginning of December 2021, WebMoney announced that it would suspend operations for transferring funds and replenishing wallets in Russia for six months on instructions from the Central Bank. The representative of the transfer system told RBC that it had been working in the country for 23 years in full compliance with all laws - according to him, there were no gross violations, and the order was most likely related to formal remarks.
