The presentation of Samsung smartphones in the metaverse was held with technical problems

A CNBC journalist spoke about his impressions of visiting Samsung's virtual presentation in the metaverse: navigation problems, queues and poor organization. The editors tried to get into the virtual building for about half an hour and eventually gave up. The editor of CNET told about what is happening inside.

This week, the South Korean IT giant announced the presentation of Samsung Unpacked and announced that the event will take place both offline and in a virtual world created in the Decentraland metaverse. It was possible to connect to the virtual presentation using a browser, the avatar was controlled using the keyboard and mouse.

CNBC journalist Sam Shed took part in the event and noted that after entering the virtual world, all users found themselves in a common lobby, through which it was already possible to get into a copy of the Samsung 837X flagship store. But users have not found a way to leave the waiting area. Samsung responded to the error and helped redirect users to the location of the presentation.

The problems didn't end there. The journalist of the publication was surrounded by several dozen users trying to get into the Samsung store. The doors were closed, although the offline broadcast had already begun. Users interfered with each other, jumped on the heads of avatars and asked in the chat to help get into the building. Changing the server did not help solve the problem and it was not possible to get to the virtual event on time.

CNET editor Russell Holly managed to get inside and look at what was happening. It turned out that a video was also broadcast inside the building, which at the same moment was watched by users of social networks. No features of the metaverse were involved. The journalist said on Twitter that while the metaverse allows you to do everything the same as in the real world, it just takes more time.
