Dangerous banking trojan threatens Android users

ThreatFabric cybersecurity researchers have noticed a similarity between the little-known Medusa Android Trojan and one of the most dangerous malware, FluBot, according to the ZDNet portal.

Experts noted that Medusa first appeared in 2020 and has since continued to infect more devices. It is noted that unlike FluBot, which, as a rule, was limited to Europe, Medusa has become more widespread.

For example, malware can steal passwords, banking data, and other confidential information from infected smartphones. Malware can also access contacts to "transmit itself" by sending SMS to other devices.

“With its large number of remote access features, Medusa poses a critical threat to financial institutions in targeted regions,” the researchers said.

Medusa and FluBot remain a threat to Android users. Experts recommend not clicking on suspicious links and only downloading applications from trusted sources to avoid infection.
