Meta has introduced an update to the Messenger app. The main innovation is separate payments in group chats, which allow you to pool money together. For now, the feature only works for US users.
Full list of updates:
separate payments - users now have the opportunity to share a large amount of money among several chat participants. To do this, click on the attachment selection icon and go to the "Payments" menu. Then you can enter the total amount and mark those who will have to pay. It is possible to divide the amount in half for all marked users or manually enter the part that everyone owes. In addition, for each user, you can write a personalized message. The Meta blog noted that the feature would be useful for collaborative events, when chat participants need to pool money together;
advanced features of audio messages - now you can pause the recording process and preview the message before sending. Also increased the duration of voice messages from one minute to half an hour;
Disappearing Messages - Users can send messages that disappear after being read. You can send text, images, GIFs, stickers, and reactions as such messages. To activate the function, you need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen and send a message through the menu that opens. You can return to regular chat using the same gesture. Messages will disappear as soon as the reader leaves the menu of disappearing messages.
