Microsoft adds Android and iOS malware detection to Defender

Microsoft Defender for Endpoint now supports vulnerability detection for iOS and Android. Now the system can work with all major platforms used in organizations, including workstations, servers and mobile devices.

For Android, companies have received the following features:

vulnerability assessment in Android OS versions on devices;

assessing the security of installed applications;

for Android Enterprise, only those applications that are installed in the user's work profile are supported;

n other BYOD scenarios, application rating is disabled by default, but the system administrator can activate the feature manually and get a list of all installed applications;

available for Android 6.0 and above devices.

For iOS, there are noticeably fewer options:

assessment of vulnerabilities in versions of iOS on devices, including iPhone and iPad;

the function of assessing the security of installed applications was not included in the release, but Microsoft plans to add it in future updates;

t is possible to connect gadgets running iOS 11.0 and higher, it is also available for iPadOS.

Both mobile operating systems offer anti-phishing protection, blocking insecure connections, and bypass detection.

Microsoft Defender for Endpoint enhancements were first announced on February 2, 2021. Then the IT giant introduced a public version for macOS. The system currently works with Windows, Windows Server, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, and iPadOS.
