Most of Musk-chipped monkeys died in agony

During the experiments of Elon Musk's Neuralink company to implant chips in the brain of a monkey, out of 23 experimental subjects, 15 died in agony. This is reported by the Business Insider portal, citing data from the University of California, which broke off cooperation with the company.

It was the university that filed charges with the USDA for nine violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

Neuralink chips were implanted by drilling holes in monkey skulls. One primate developed acute skin inflammation due to the chip. Another monkey lost fingers and toes as a result of an unspecified injury. Both primates were euthanized.

A third started vomiting uncontrollably shortly after the operation and died a few days later. An autopsy showed that the animal suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Neuralink is Elon Musk's start-up, which is developing the production of chips implanted in the brain.

Experiments on monkeys began in 2017, but it was not until 2019 that a chip was successfully implanted in the head of a primate. A year later, Musk announced that the company was able to microchip a pig.

Musk has scheduled human trials for 2022. According to him, this will help people cope with damage to the brain and spinal cord. The operation to implant the chips will be carried out by a special robot.

Previously, she talked about how Elon Musk came under investigation about an attempt to bribe employees and threats.
