Top fight of the week: return of Shavkat Nomad Rakhmonov

On February 6, the first UFC Fight Night of the new year will take place, within which Kazakhstani fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov (14-0) and Guyanese prospect Carlston Harris (17-4) will meet.

The third fight of Rakhmonov under the auspices of the UFC was eagerly awaited not only by compatriots, but also by foreign fans of mixed martial arts. At 27 years old, Nomad is considered one of the most promising prospects of the new generation. Experts unanimously say that he will confidently enter the rating and adequately fight for the welterweight title.

This is not hard to believe. In 2013, Rakhmonov became the youngest world champion in mixed martial arts among amateurs. In 2019, he took the M-1 Global championship. By the time of his American debut, he remains undefeated to this day. He has 14 stoppage victories in his pocket, two of which he won in the UFC with choke holds.

Against him will be 33-year-old fighter from Guyana Karlston Harris. Unlike the Kazakhstani, the Guyanese started his career with a defeat, but has since gained experience. The upcoming fight will also be his third appearance in the UFC. Harris intends to impose his game and be the first to take the upper hand over the “Nomad”. Whether a small difference in experience will help him in this is unknown, but Rakhmonov is unanimously considered the favorite of the fight at the moment.

UFC FN will take place in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex arena. In addition to Rakhmonov and Harris, the main events of the evening include fights Hermanson - Strickland and Soriano - Maximov.
