The experts simulated various situations using the Fugaku supercomputer. The model was based on a conversation with a carrier of the strain "omicron" for 15 minutes at various distances. The study compared the risk of infection without a mask.

According to the presented simulation, the risk of infection from the new omicron variant is close to zero if the sick person wears a mask, and the conversation with him takes place at a distance of a meter or more.

In the event that the carrier of the virus did not put on personal protective equipment on his face and is at the same distance, the chances of becoming infected increase to 60%.
