Tested post-quantum cryptography and won a prize

Our partners from QApp, a division of the Russian Quantum Center, won the RB Digital Awards with a pilot project to secure host-to-host connections at Gazprombank using post-quantum cryptography.

Why do we need it? Traditional asymmetric cryptography algorithms are not resistant to cyberattacks using quantum computers. Quantum processors are becoming more powerful year and may pose security risks in the future.

Quantum-resistant encryption algorithms (post-quantum cryptography) are a new class of algorithms that can be used to protect data from cyber attacks. At the same time, they are compatible with "classic" cryptographic protocols - they can be used by existing software, and the solution itself can be quickly integrated into the organization's infrastructure.

We have been cooperating with the Russian Quantum Center since 2014, and together with it we launched the first quantum network in Russia on a conventional urban fiber optic channel - a 30-kilometer line connected two bank branches in Moscow. We also invested 70 million rubles in the creation of a small CubeSat satellite with a quantum key distribution system transmitter on board.
