Sony suspends sales of ZV-E10 cameras due to shortage of semiconductors

Sony has suspended sales of the Alpha ZV-E10, a mirrorless camera, which was released in late July. The reason was a global shortage of chips.

Sony announced that it will not currently sell the ZV-E10 in its stores or through any distributors, explaining that the purchase of camera parts is being delayed due to a global shortage of semiconductors. .. The company has promised to “monitor the status of parts shipments and report them on the product information page.”

The ZV-E10 is not the only device that Sony has temporarily taken off sale this year. In November, Sony discontinued sales of the A7 II, A6400 and A1600 series cameras, as well as the ECM-B1M microphone and PXW-Z190 camcorder. In April, Sony suspended its Handycam HDR-CX680.

Other photographic equipment manufacturers are also facing the consequences of a shortage of semiconductors. In June Nikon stopped including the EH-7P AC adapter in its Z7 and Z7 II cameras due to a lack of spare parts. Canon has announced that it will postpone the delivery of the new EOS R3 up to six months. Delays in delivery also affected Fujifilm, in particular, the X-S10 camera.

It was previously reported that Sony will reduce the sales of the PlayStation 5 due to a lack of components. As pointed out by Bloomberg, the company has lowered its PS5 sales forecast for the current fiscal year by a million units. Initially, Sony planned to sell 16 million set-top boxes from April 2021 to March 2022, but the shortage of microcircuits forced this number to be reduced to 15 million units.
