The Gamaleya Center announced a search for volunteers to test the first two phases of a new vaccine against coronavirus, revealing for the first time the production technology of the drug.

It is known that research will be carried out for two different types of vaccine - intranasal and intramuscular based virus-like particles (VLP), while Sputnik V was created using human adenovirus. Information about the tests was published on the public procurement website on December 3. The cost of research will be 141.6 million rubles.

Prior to this, the composition of the intranasal drug was not disclosed. As it turned out, this type of vaccination consists of three stages, before which the patient needs preliminary hospitalization. The intramuscular vaccine consists of two components - like "Sputnik V." ... It is known that the competition was won by Rick-Pharma, a research company.

The contracts describe the composition of a new vaccine based on VLP, consisting of viral proteins, the effect of which, according to Rospotrebnadzor, can be enhanced by adjuvants and immunostimulants ... Rospotrebnadzor indicates that, despite the safety and efficacy of the vaccine components, the drug is very expensive to manufacture due to the complex technology. As noted in the department, most of the drugs against coronavirus were created using the method of subunit drugs.

According to the procurement documents of the contract, during the first phase, 410 participants will be required, and during the second - 825. The contract also states that the contractor is obliged to develop a research methodology, prepare the necessary documentation, and evaluate and analyze medical centers and serological laboratories.
