Ford Motor Company said today that some of its assembly plants will continue to be idle this week due to a global shortage of semiconductor products.
The American automaker will suspend production at its Ohio assembly plant as well as the production line at its Kansas City assembly plant where Ford Transit vans are assembled. Truck assemblers in Kentucky, Chicago and Michigan will operate a reduced shift scheme.
A week ago, due to a shortage of chips, Ford suspended or reduced production at eight plants in North America. The automaker had previously warned that the shortage would lead to lower car sales in the current quarter.
