Apple has updated its list of so-called "vintage" devices. In 2018, the iPhone 5 joined this list of obsolete devices. Now it's the turn of the iPhone 6 Plus, which was launched in September 2014 and was produced until September 2016. Interestingly, the iPhone 6, which was sold until 2018, has not yet made the list.
The iPhone 6 Plus will no longer receive any updates from Apple. The American manufacturer stopped adding new features to the smartphone in 2019 with the release of iOS 13, and now the smartphone will not be eligible for security updates.
Gradually, Apple will also stop offering iPhone 6 Plus repair services. Formally, the smartphone can be repaired until September 2023, but by then some parts may disappear. After this date, Apple will stop repairing the device and third-party stores will no longer be able to order replacement parts from Apple.
Apple's internal memo, leaked last year, said the company would add the iPhone 6 Plus to its list of obsolete products as early as December 31, 2021.
