Samsung QD-OLED TV launch delayed

At least until the second quarter of this year, according to a number of South Korean media

Users have long been accustomed to the quality of monitors from Samsung. Perfect black color and very juicy all the rest. But the South Korean giant has never stood still and has always tried to improve its technology.

However, in recent months, apparently due to the coronavirus pandemic and due to the lack of components, the manufacturer has faced certain problems. So, for example, the release of TVs with Quantum Dot OLED panels is again postponed for several months. QD technology combined with blue organic LED. Which in theory will give more brightness without using a white sub-pixel, like other companies (for example, LG).

According to Samsung announcements, a new type of display will be able to combine the advantages of both conventional OLED screens and Quantum Dot. The development of an IT corporation from South Korea was first seriously discussed back in 2018. Since then, the competition between Samsung, LG, and Sony seems to have only intensified. In light of recent events, the first company to launch QD-OLED TVs on the market may just be Japanese. Samsung's problems are associated, first of all, with the inability to agree between its two structural divisions. Thus, Samsung Visual Display Business, which manufactures TVs, is ready to buy new panels from Samsung Display at a price lower than the latter plan.

Namely - at a cost comparable to WOLED screens from LG. On the prices, obviously, it is necessary to negotiate long and hard. And all this in a competitive environment. It is worth noting that QD-OLED technology improves on the well-known OLED by using quantum dot materials. The maximum brightness of Quantum Dot panels can reach 1500 nits. Whereas WOLED - only about 800 in similar conditions.
