AMD, what's the magic? Mobile video card Radeon RX 6800S defeated RX 6700M, which is better in all respects

The mobile video card Radeon RX 6800S, presented at the beginning of the year, appeared in the benchmark and performed well, but only if you know what kind of adapter it is.

The thing is, the title is confusing. And it's not even that Nvidia's S stands for accelerated Super cards. The fact is that the RX 6800S is not the RX 6800M at all. And not even the RX 6700M, if we are talking about the base.

The latter two are based on the Navi 22 GPU, while the RX 6800S is based on the Navi 23. Hence, fewer stream processors, a narrower bus and several times less Infinity Cache memory. However, in part, the card still fulfills its name.

In Geekbench, the adapter scored almost 83,000 points, slightly outperforming the RX 6700M, although still far behind the RX 6800M. But the victory over the RX 6700M is very curious, since the latter, as already mentioned, has better absolutely all parameters, including frequencies. How the RX 6800S won in the first place is completely unclear.

AMD itself positions the card (and the entire S line) as a power-optimized solution for thin laptops.
