Epic Games decided to hire more than a hundred QA engineers who previously worked on outsourcing

According to Verge, Epic Games has decided to hire more than 100 QA (Quality Assurance) engineers and game testers from the United States, who previously worked with the company through outsourcing agencies Eastridge, Hays and Nextaff. Epic has also sent out their partnership proposals to some other eligible contract employees who have other roles in game development and testing, especially Fortnite.

According to the source of the publication, most of these Epic offers imply a massive exit of testers to work in the company from April 4, 2022.

Verge believes that Epic decided to take this step against the backdrop of a shortage of highly qualified industry employees in the market, as well as during their many departures from other major studios and game development companies. For example, in December 2021, Activision-owned Raven Software fired a dozen QA engineers, leading to a strike and then to the Game Workers Alliance.

Epic hasn't announced an improvement in working conditions for its employees, although it has been criticized in the past due to the high workloads on teams and the requirement for them to participate in overtime during the preparation of the change of seasons in the battle royale of Fortnite. Probably, in order to attract new employees to work, the company will still make some concessions, in addition to simply offering to work in the state.

At the beginning of this year, it became known about the conflict between testers and management in Team17. The company did not want to pay for overtime, did not raise wages according to the market, and also overloaded workers with tasks against the backdrop of numerous deadlines. Some Team17 testers left

companies to other studios, where they were paid more, and there was less stress at work.
