The government aims at Elbrus: the state corporation Rosatom will buy a controlling stake in MCST

The state corporation "Rosatom" wants to acquire a controlling stake in the domestic developer of processors "Elbrus" JSC MCST. The decision will be made this year.

The source writes that Rosatom is acting on behalf of the government, where they are dissatisfied with the performance of MCST. The entire MCST company is estimated at 5-7 billion rubles. Sources say that Rosatom is already preparing for the start of the deal.

General Director of MCST Alexander Kim said that "information about the possible purchase of the company by someone is just rumors." His deputy, Konstantin Trushkin, added that "he knows nothing about this" and refused to clarify the composition of the company's shareholders. Rosatom declined to comment.

JSC MCST was established in 1992, the authorized capital of the company is 3 million rubles. 99.88% of the shares of the JSC are held by "citizens of the Russian Federation", another 0.08% are held by the Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Science named after V.I. S. A. Lebedev RAS (JSC ITMIVT), 0.04 - from JSC NII super-computer. The source claims that over the past few years, a controlling stake (about 70%) has been concentrated in the hands of Alexander Kim. At the end of 2018, MCST's net profit amounted to RUB 40 million. with revenue of 2 billion rubles.

The volume of contracts has been steadily declining in recent years. In 2017, the company completed six contracts for 2.6 billion rubles, and in 2019 - only one for 1.3 billion rubles. In December it became known that MCST won the tender for the development of the Elbrus 32C processor, having received 7.14 billion rubles from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The company had won a similar tender a year earlier, but the results were canceled.
