The very popular crossover Renault Duster of the first generation is discontinued

According to a source, the first-generation Renault Duster crossover has been discontinued. Up to this point, it was produced only in India, while in Russia the production of the first generation Renault Duster ended a year ago, in Brazil - back in 2020.

The first generation Renault Duster lasted 12 years on the assembly line: it was launched under the Dacia brand in Romania in the spring of 2010. In addition to the countries already listed, the model was assembled in Colombia and Indonesia. However, two varieties of the "first" Duster still remained in service. Firstly, this is the Nissan Terrano: crossovers are produced at the Renault Moscow plant, and the Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) for this model is valid until December 2023. And secondly, the Renault Duster Oroch pickup truck is still being produced in Brazil.

In Russia, more than 450,000 first-generation Renault Duster crossovers have been produced at the Renault plant in Moscow since the start of production in December 2011. In March 2021, the second generation Renault Duster crossover was introduced to the Russian market. The car is available with the same 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter engines with 117 and 143 hp. respectively, as well as with a new 1.33-liter 150-horsepower turbocharged engine, working together with a 6-speed manual transmission or with a CVT. As an alternative, the Duster is offered with an upgraded 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 109 hp. The car is available with front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive.

At the end of 2021, sales of Renault Duster in the Russian market grew by 31% and amounted to 41,471 vehicles, including 34,712 new-generation crossovers. As a result, he entered the top three most popular SUV models in our country.
