New test build of Windows does not support TKIP and WEP

According to Microsoft, the new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22557 does not support wireless connections with network authentication through TKIP and WEP encryption protocols that are unprotected from hackers and have vulnerabilities.

Microsoft explained that TKIP and WEP are legacy security standards, and Windows 11 is a modern system that now protects user data in this situation as well.

Microsoft advised users of the new version of Windows 11 to contact the network administrator to change the necessary settings on the router or physically update the router and make sure that it supports at least the WPA2 encryption standard, and preferably WPA3.

In Windows 10 from version 1903, when connecting to Wi-Fi networks that are secured with WEP or TKIP, an insecure connection warning appears. Microsoft also plans to completely disable TKIP and WEP in Windows 10. The company strongly recommends switching to AES encryption with WPA2 or WPA3.

Previously, users found out that Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22557 cannot be installed using a local account. To install it, you will need to be connected to the Internet and sign in to a previously registered Microsoft work account, even if this version of the OS is used only locally.
