Elon Musk Announces Dogecoin Payments at Supercharger Station in Santa Monica

Elon Musk has announced that Tesla will now accept Dogecoin as payment at its Supercharger station in Santa Monica. On his Twitter account, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that Dogecoin will be one of the payment methods. As expected, this announcement caused a slight increase in the value of Dogecoin.

IndiaTimes confirms that the Santa Monica charging station has become the first Supercharger on the electric car manufacturer's network to accept cryptocurrency as a payment method. The announcement did not come as a surprise, because Elon Musk has long supported this cryptocurrency.

Some people have interpreted the aforementioned Tesla CEO tweet in different ways. They envisioned that Dogecoin would only be accepted at future eateries and movie theaters in the Hollywood area. What's more, app developer Ryan Zohuri tweeted that after Musk's announcement, charging stations in Santa Monica were swarming with customers. As a reminder, Tesla previously tested the demand for the feature by selling some items for cryptocurrency back in December 2021.

It is also reported that SpaceX will soon allow Dogecoin payments as well. Earlier this week, a reference to Dogecoin was discovered in the source code of Musk's aerospace company. In addition, Musk has already hinted that SpaceX and Starlink will accept payments in Dogecoin in the future.
