Non-Intel or AMD x86 processor

In fact, there are only two main players in the x86-compatible CPU market: Intel and AMD. But they also sometimes remember the company VIA. Today we have the opportunity to evaluate the performance of a unique processor that was introduced several years ago, but never entered the market.

So, the author of the review managed to get the Centaur CNS processor. Recall that Centaur Technology is a subsidiary of VIA, and last year Intel bought some of Centaur's employees.

The specified Brutus Centaur CPU uses cores on its own CNS microarchitecture, has an AI co-processor, support for AVX-512, and is manufactured on a 16-nanometer process technology. The processor configuration includes eight cores with a frequency of 2.2 GHz and 16 MB of cache in the third level. As you can see, the frequency is very low, and the technical process is far from modern.

Accordingly, the test results were quite modest. In single-threaded mode, Brutus Centaur, depending on the test, is at the level of either the very old Athlon X2 250 or the more modern FX-8150, but in multi-threaded the result already corresponds to the Core i5-6600.
