Announced a free unlocker to remove the hashrate limit for NVIDIA RTX 3000 video cards, the tool has not been tested yet

According to VideoCardz, a Polish developer named Sergey has created a hashrate unlocker for NVIDIA RTX 30/RTX 30 LHR graphics cards and even professional RTX A-series graphics cards. free for everyone. The developer promised to put the unlocker on GitHub on February 26 for public beta testing.

According to the description of the project on GitHub, the unlocker, after its activation, will allow unlocked video cards to fully, and not with the current performance limit of 50%, mine Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies under Windows and HiveOS using any NVIDIA GPU miners, and not just through lolMiner.

As part of unlocking the video card, the user will have to back up the adapter's BIOS. The unlocker modifies the current BIOS version. The video card will work fully only with the help of a modified version of the video drivers, which are also provided by the author of the project.

The author declares that his software is free, he prohibits the sale of a BIOS modified by this program, and is not responsible for any problems users have when using the unlocker.

The RTX Unlocker software supposedly mods, flashes, and even backs up the BIOS. This process is safe and reversible, according to the author.

VideoCardz clarified that this is not yet a tested tool, which is not a fact that it will work, like, for example, the previously tested NBMiner. The publication's experts fear that after modifying the BIOS and installing video drivers from a private server, the video card cannot be used simultaneously for other purposes, such as games, at least not with the latest game updates.

In early February 2021, Nvidia announced the release of specialized CMP (Crypto-mining processor) mining cards, as well as a hardware halving of the Ethereum hash rate on the GeForce RTX 3060. The company later clarified that the anti-mining feature of the RTX 3060 does not work at the driver level, but in vBIOS, and may appear on other cards.

In March 2021, users discovered that the anti-mining feature of the RTX 3060 was not working with the 470.05 driver. Nvidia has called the release of this driver an accidental bug.

In May, Nvidia announced that it would limit the ability to mine Ethereum on updated versions of the GeForce RTX 3080, 3070, and 3060 Ti graphics cards. Cards with a reduced hash rate will be labeled “Lite Hash Rate” or “LHR” on the packaging. The manufacturer expects these graphics adapters to be less desirable for miners.

In early June, Nvidia lowered the hash rate in the RTX 3080 Ti not only for Ethereum, but also for other crypto coins - Ethereum Classic (ETC), Ergo and Ravencoin (RVN). So the company is trying to ward off the interest of miners in its video cards.

In August 2021, an updated version of the NBMiner application gained the ability to bypass, but not completely, Ethereum hashrate limits on Nvidia video cards - up to 70%, instead of 50%.
