Chery, Haval and Geely are swimming against the tide: the share of Chinese in the Russian market has doubled

Experts from the Avtostat agency calculated that in January 2022, Russians bought 7.9 thousand new cars of Chinese brands, which is 9.7% of the total market.

At the same time, just a year ago, in January 2021, the share of new Chinese cars in the domestic market was 4.8%, and at the end of last year it increased to 7.5%.

The source notes that while the entire new car market continues to show a decline in sales, Chinese brands are constantly increasing their share. In January of this year, Chery occupied 3.3% of the Russian market, and a year ago this figure for the company was 1.8%. Haval's share increased from 1.5% last year to 3.1% in January this year.

The third place in the ranking of the most popular Chinese brands is occupied by Geely with a result of 2.1% (was 0.9%). The success of the premium brand Chery Exeed is also noted, the share of which increased from 0.1% to 0.5%.
