Media: Samsung is working on AR glasses with holographic technology, and Apple's headset will receive microOLED

South Korean company Samsung has begun designing an AR headset that will use holographic imaging, Korea IT News reports. This technology was developed by the company together with the Institute of advanced technologies (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology).

The technology provides that a three-dimensional image will be formed using the interference of waves. For this reason, the headset will be equipped with photosensitive components and a special single-chip system based on the Exynos chip. Android will be used as the operating system in the AR headset

Currently, the development of the device is at the prototype stage. The company is actively cooperating with the American DigiLens, which is engaged in AR and VR technologies. Now Samsung is determined with the release date of the device, the newspaper notes.

At the same time, Apple, which is due to unveil its first headset at the end of this year, is going to equip it with microOLED screens, writes Korea IT News. At the same time, the displays will not be placed on glass substrates, but on the chip plates themselves - the publication writes that in this way it was possible to reduce the size and power consumption of the device.

Korea IT News sources say that the device's application processor (bbabo.net) is being designed as part of the M1 chip, and the operating system will be based on iOS. In early February, Apple accidentally revealed that it would be called realityOS.

The publication writes that the company has completed a review of what resources will be required for mass production of a new headset.
