The first details of the remake of the game Splinter Cell have appeared

The original game was released in 2002 and gained cult status, and many think that it brought its own characteristics to the stealth action genre, and on a par with Metal Gear Solid and Hitman. Until recently, this series was in oblivion, the last part came out about seven years ago. And now some of the details of the remake have become known - an interview with the game's creative director Chris Oty, producer Matt West and technical producer Peter Handrinos has appeared on the Ubisoft website.

The interview says the remake is in its early stages of production. The game is entrusted to the Ubisoft division from Toronto, responsible for the last parts of the Watch Dogs games, Far Cry, and back in 2013, Splinter Cell itself. In the production of the remake, there are many veterans of the stealth franchise who have worked on different parts of the game. But the company continues to recruit people to handle the game.

The creators stated that the remake will be a full-fledged one, not a remaster. At the moment, the developers are considering what they will do from scratch and what they will leave, including AI, sound, lighting and shadows, in order to preserve the spirit of Splinter Cell. As Matt West said:

“I’ll say this: you have to have a slogan, and one of the things that we use now as a slogan, from the very beginning, is the phrase“ respect glasses ”. I like glasses as a symbol of Sam. We create a game that is modern, but built on the foundation of a rich brand history. The game earned its awards for being innovative and challenging, and was truly different from what was on the market at the time. "Respect the glasses" helps remind us of the fact that we must give them credit. "

The hero of the Splinter Cell franchise has its own distinctive feature - trifocal goggles for night and infrared thermal vision. Like Agent 47's red tie and barcode, or Solid Snake's bandana and eye patch. The most important thing the developers have announced is that there will be no open world, the game will remain a linear stealth action game. So you can hope for no outposts and juggernauts for Sam Fisher. Many developers have more than once given game fans “something for everyone” and “it turned out what it did”. The last time this was the failure of the GTA: Definitive Edition remake / remaster.

Also, the creation of a game from scratch may be due to the fact that the development is carried out on Ubisoft's own Snowdrop engine. Now on this engine the game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora based on the movie "Avatar" by James Cameron and the game on "Star Wars" announced at the beginning of the year are being created. The developers also hope to lay a solid foundation for the future games of the franchise with this remake. When the Splinter Cell remake will be released, it is not specified.
