Forbes: Yandex is looking for coworking spaces in Yerevan for employees who have recently left the Russian Federation

According to the Russian edition of Forbes, in late February and early March, about 100 Yandex employees moved from Russia to Armenia and began working remotely there. The company is now looking for a large co-working space in Yerevan to enable employees to continue working together.

The representative of Yandex explained that it was not the company that decided to relocate employees, but they themselves chose this approach. According to him, Yandex does not plan to move its headquarters from Moscow.

Forbes explained that there is a Yandex.Taxi office in Yerevan, but now there are many more employees there, and they need more space to work together, although they can perform their tasks remotely. Now employees and the company are trying to decide how to pay for coworking services.

Yandex sources explained to the publication that the company really planned to relocate part of its employees to Armenia, but faced various difficulties, for example, their top managers became restricted to travel abroad in the current situation. Yandex did not confirm this information. The company also denied statements by third parties that at the end of February, all interested employees were allowed to move to Armenia at the expense of Yandex and work there remotely.

One of the company's employees told Forbes that Yandex promised to help those who moved to another country. But now it has become unclear even to those who have moved abroad how they will receive a salary. Their Visa and Mastercard cards of Russian banks stopped working.

On February 27, Yandex announced the transition to remote work in order to maintain the emotional state of employees.

On February 28, Yandex announced anti-crisis measures in the company. There are no layoffs planned, but the hiring of new employees will be temporarily frozen. Yandex decided to financially support all employees in the state, including interns and those on probation. The company will pay them another salary.
