DJI introduced the Matrice 30 drone that flies in the pouring rain

DJI presented the M30 drone for the needs of industry and emergency services. The drone can withstand a wide range of temperatures, and can fly "in the rain, with strong gusts of wind, and even in icy and snowy conditions."

The drone is able to operate at temperatures from -20 °C to +50 °C.

The M30 comes with a robotic storage case with integrated charging.

It is compact enough to fit in a large backpack or a small suitcase on wheels. The drone is equipped with a self-locking arm that easily snaps into place when folded.

The battery life of the M30 is 41 minutes. However, the DJI Dock robotic case is equipped with built-in charging, a weather station, surveillance cameras and antennas. Such a case can be placed in the back of a car. You can charge the drone using the Dock in 25 minutes. The docking station requires a separate power supply and Internet connection via a built-in 4G modem. It is capable of supporting drone flights at a distance of up to 7 km.

Buyers will be offered two versions of the device: M30 and M30T. The base M30 has a 48-megapixel 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with 5x optical zoom, 200x digital zoom, and a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera. The drone takes 8K photos and shoots 4K video at 30 frames per second. It is equipped with a laser rangefinder that can determine the exact distance to objects at a distance of up to 1200 meters.

The M30T is equipped with a 640×512 pixel thermal imaging camera.

The drone has six-position sensors to help avoid collisions with obstacles. It has an emergency landing feature.

The M30 is controlled by an RC Plus controller with a 7-inch display that is IP54 waterproof.

The kit includes the drone, two batteries and a case. The base version will cost $10,000, while the M30T model will sell for $14,000. The price of the version with DJI Dock is not reported.

Drones will start selling in the fourth quarter of 2022.

In 2021, DJI introduced a compact drone Air 2S with an inch sensor capable of shooting video in 5.4K (5472 × 3078 pixels). In addition, the minidrone can take pictures with a resolution of 20 megapixels. The device is equipped with obstacle detection sensors from all directions, as well as the AirSense security system, which warns it of other flying objects.
