According to a Yandex representative, in 2021 the company spent 2 billion rubles on such payments and 1.1 billion rubles in 2020. The reason for such a large increase in payments is that since December this year, Yandex began to pay Yandex.Zen bloggers for the interaction of subscribers with content.

Experts explained to the publication that Yandex is thus luring bloggers from other online platforms, including Telegram, YouTube, TikTok and VK, who have high quality content. The company needs more authors who generate traffic not only due to clickbait headlines, but due to interesting content that will attract even more subscribers to Yandex Zen. In this case, in addition to direct monetization, for example, within the framework of the blogger support program, the authors also earn from advertising within posts, and Yandex from native advertising.

According to analysts, in September 2021, the monthly audience of Yandex.Zen amounted to 22.2 million users, and the most popular authors on the platform earn more than a million rubles a month.

At the end of 2020, Yandex.Zen said that from 2021, individual entrepreneurs and legal entities will be able to activate monetization in the service. In 2019, such an opportunity appeared for self-employed users.
