DuckDuckGo removed links to pirate sites and even to the youtube-dl tool from the search results, then returned part of it

According to TorrentFreak, on April 15, the DuckDuckGo search service removed links to popular pirate sites and even to the main site of the open-source youtube-dl tool from search results. Some of these restrictions have now been lifted. DuckDuckGo did not explain the reasons for the introduction and removal of restrictions on extradition.

DuckDuckGo stopped showing links to The Pirate Bay, 1337x.to, NYAA.se, Fmovies.to, Lookmovie.io, 123moviesfree.net for some time. Only part of the links began to appear on RarBG.to and Fitgirl-repacks. The search engine also removed links to streaming services Flixtor and Primewire, tools for working with videos 2conv.com, Flvto.bid and even youtube-dl from the issue.

Thepiratebay.org and youtube-dl.org are now unlocked on DuckDuckGo.

TorrentFreak experts have suggested that DuckDuckGo has imposed restrictions on search results for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as part of processing requests for infringement of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Russian search engines (Yandex and others), as part of the anti-piracy memorandum, have been blocking links to pirated resources for several years on request, but they do not prohibit search content for tools, including youtube-dl.

In early April, DuckDuckGo released a beta version of its browser for Mac. The application blocks ad trackers and pop-ups with information about cookies and allows you to clear data in one click. Soon the DuckDuckGo browser will be available for Windows.
