The robot was taught to demonstrate pain and disgust

British developer Engineered Arts has introduced an updated humanoid robot Ameca, which can reproduce human facial expressions.

So, the robot can imitate 12 different facial expressions, including distrust, disgust, pain and regret.

According to Engineered Arts, Ameca is "the world's most advanced human robot" and represents "the forefront of human robotics technology."

Android runs on the Tritium robot operating system. Its modular architecture allows for future upgrades of the robot both physically and software.

Engineered Arts COO Morgan Rowe says that Ameca will mostly be used in the field of "service robotics", android will not communicate with real people for another "10 to 20 years."

The robot has repeatedly appeared at various events. In January, Engineered Arts showcased it at CES in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Tesla could have a working prototype of its Tesla Optimus humanoid robot by the end of September. It was introduced in 2021. The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, said that it will be a companion-assistant of a person in everyday affairs, and his first version will not be able to work in production due to certain restrictions. The robot will be trained by AI to perform useful tasks or take on dangerous, repetitive and boring tasks. True, Musk later said that the Tesla Bot could solve the problem of labor shortages and eventually completely replace human labor.
