Even Russian films were banned from IMAX:

The Canadian company IMAX, which curtailed its activities in Russia this summer, banned the showing of Russian films in the format of the same name. Alexei Vasyasin, the general director of the united cinema network Cinema Park and Formula Kino, spoke about this.

He clarified that despite the fact that the equipment installed in Russian cinemas belongs to domestic distributors, permission to use it still needs to be obtained from a Canadian company.

“Technically, a projector can show any film. Another question is that it is impossible to show a film in IMAX format without IMAX permission,” Alexey Vasyasin explained.

The company's ban applies not only to foreign, but also to domestic paintings. He confirmed that due to "a direct ban on the part of the company" in the IMAX format, it is impossible to show "Movement Up", "Stalingrad" and other films.

He believes that the company will return to Russia as soon as possible, but Russian distributors are going to revise the terms of cooperation in order to exclude the possibility of a unilateral withdrawal. If IMAX doesn't come back, she'll face trials.

We have a very strict contract with them, according to which they are obliged to work here. If by the end of this year they do not remember about this contract, there will be a trial.
